Typically my sister and I split the post up so that we each get one week with two posts and one week with one post. Since this is the last post of the month, I figured we would switch this pattern up a bit and come together to give our five favorite things of the month, each.
I have been for years going through cycles of makeup wipes that never actually feel good for my skin, which is very sensitive. I used everything, from Simple to Neutrogena, but nothing made me want to use it a second time. During my mini-trips to Tucson this past month, I forgot to bring whatever wipes I had at the apartment and was forced to borrow some from my mom. This turned out to be possibly the best thing that could happen as it allowed me to discover Aveeno Wipes. It calms, it feels like you’ve washed your face afterwards and does not scratch.
2. Love Letter
My Friend Gabby and I have become re-obsessed with tabletop games, thanks to one of those Youtube rabbit holes that lead us to the Wil Wheaton hosted show Tabletop. We have slowly begun to collect games, and one of our favorites has been AEG’s Love Letter. An easy to play, 2-6 person card game that involves luck and deduction; which takes less than 15 minutes and is easy for new gamers to pick up. The best part about it is that, it’s $8.00 or less, depending where you buy it.
I am a little obsessed with Elie Saab, his collections can do no wrong. However, his Fall 2015 couture show has risen my love for his clothing to a whole new label. While I have restrained from filling my Pinterest boards, I still manage to stare and dream about owning all the pretty dresses. I can not wait to see his dresses hit the red carpet this season!
4. The Martian
I can not shout the praises of this book any louder, IT IS PRETTY FREAKEN AMAZING! the book revolves around an astronaut that after an aborted three-month mission on Mars, is accidently left behind by crew who believe him dead. Following him in his struggle to survive until the next planned Mars mission arrives but also the crew and earth based scientist dealing with the aftermath. I first listened to it on audiobook (which is excellently performed), after seeing the trailer for the film.
For my belated birthday gift, my parent bought me some new running shoes with custom insoles. As someone who is restarting Crossfit and beginning to train for their third half marathon, the proper shoes are very important. While these are the last of my five fav for the month if you are going to buy new running shoes, I highly recommend going to your running store and talking to a professional about which shoes are right for you.
1. Sense 8
This month my husband and I have been obsessed with the Netflix series Sense 8. It’s a sci-fi drama about 8 people who are telepathically linked. If you love a show that toys with your emotions, give this a watch. You will laugh, you will cry, hours will fly by. We blew through season 1 and can’t wait for season 2.
I love a good bottle of red wine. However, while browsing the aisles of our local Total Wine store, this Sauvignon Blanc caught my eye. I decided to try it and am so glad that I did. It’s a crisp wine that’s perfect for enjoying during Arizona’s sweltering summers. Definitely a new favorite.
This summer has been all about the beach wave vacation look. Thankfully it’s easy to pretend you hit the beach every morning with this sea salt spray. It adds light texture without weighing your locks down and smells divine. I plan to use this spray well into winter.
I can’t seem to get enough of cacti. I’m pinning cactus-like crazy. From shirts to prints, to cookies, to gardens; these beautiful desert plants have stolen my heart.
5. Blue Apron.
We started Blue Apron at the end of last month and it has been so fun! Once a week a box filled with fresh and tasty ingredients for three meals shows up at your door. It’s seriously like Christmas. I make a point to never look online at what is coming for the week, so the meals are always a fun surprise. We’ve had everything from basil pasta to cheeseburgers. It’s a great way to keep your meals from being boring and as an added bonus I’m finally learning some cooking skills!
